New anthology launch - The Great Jam Parade ...And That

They said it couldn't be done, but it HAS BEEN DONE. Paper Jam has put out a second anthology in 2024. This one is an all-ages parade of fun.

In The Great Jam Parade ...And That we aimed to do comics that are more aimed at younger readers than our other anthologies are (less swearing and miserableness etc) resulting in a real mix of comics across a huge variety of genres!

Featuring work by Andrew Gardner, Andy Houghton, Ben Clark, Bex Foster, Britt Coxon, Chris Longstaff, Danny Gaffney, Dylan Lloyd-Davies, Franklin Von Cole, Jack Waugh, James Kerry, Jennifer C. Wilson, Masked Emerald, Michael Dodsworth, Michael Duckett, Oscillating Brow, Paul Thompson, Rowan Lee, Schrödinger’s Kitten, Sid Phoebus, Torgo Wells, and Yewberry. The delightful cover (above) is by Andy Houghton (compiling drawings by various dafties of Paper Jam). It's all cheery chaotic fun.

We're launching this fine publication with a party - Saturday 30th November, 11am-3pm, at Newcastle City Library. It's free in, there'll be a load of daft drawing games (no skill necessary), you can pick up the new anthology, our older ones, and loads of great comics and zines from members of the collective. It'll be fun! Drop by anytime!

If you can't make it to the launch, you can get your hands on it if you see us at one of our upcoming stalls, or we'll have copies in Travelling Man comic shop, or we'll have it for sale through our bigcartel webstore!

New anthology launch - Mythology ...And That

Well, it's been about a year since we launched the incredibly well-received The Sea ...And That, but we're back with our TWENTIETH 'And That' anthology! And it's our chunkiest yet, at around fifty pages of locally produced comics goodness!

In Mythology ...And That, we take on the topic of Mythology in all its guises - from the bizarre to the profound, all kinds of different traditions, in comics of all different styles and tones.

Featuring work by Andrew Gardner, Andy Houghton, Ben Clark, Britt Coxon, Chris Longstaff, Coleslaw, Dick David, gabbage, Grace L., Jack Waugh, Jennifer C. Wilson, LJ Matthews, Masked Emerald, Michael Dodsworth, Michael Duckett, Michael Gonson, Oscillating Brow, Paul Thompson, Schrödinger’s Kitten, Sid Phoebus, sidestep, Steve Lancaster, T. F. Francis, Torgo Wells, Yewberry, and Team Paper Jam. The amazing cover (above) is by Torgo Wells. It's all legendarily great stuff.

We're launching this fine publication with a party - Sunday 30th June, 1pm-5pm, at Prohibition Cabaret Bar (NE1 5DW, just near Central Station). It's free in, there'll be a load of daft drawing games (no skill necessary), you can pick up the new anthology, our older ones, and loads of great comics and zines from members of the collective. It'll be fun! Drop by anytime!

If you can't make it to the launch, you can get your hands on it if you see us at one of our upcoming stalls (including 6th July: Make & Mend Market, 7th July: Whitley Bay Fiesta), or we'll have copies in Travelling Man comic shop, or we'll have it for sale through our bigcartel webstore!

New anthology launch - The Sea ...And That at the seaside!

Paper Jam is back with a brand-new anthology - The Sea ...And That! 36 pages (well, including covers)! Loads of different creators interpreting the topic of the sea in loads of different ways!

And to celebrate, we'll be having a launch party at the fantastic Laurels arts venue in Whitley Bay (a mere few minutes walk from THE ACTUAL SEA).

It's Saturday 13th May (Eurovision day, for those that observe it), from 1pm to 6pm(ish).

It's free in! It'd be nice if you fancy buying the comic (four quid - or less if buying as part of a bargainous multi-buy deal with some of our older anthologies!) but honestly no pressure. Drop by, say hello, see what we're all about.

Comics will be for sale! Obviously The Sea ...And That, but our previous anthologies - covering a wide variety of topics, and many comics by many individual creators from within the collective.

Collaborative drawing games! No skill required! Various art jams, and stupid games, drawing sea-monsters or something! "Oh, I can't draw" - NO, I BET YOU CAN! YOU CAN! Let's go! (Though no pressure if you really don't want to, but honestly, our whole vibe is that everyone can get involved and drawing and comics are fun)

Sea-themed playlist! Only the most nautical of tracks!

Beverages!

Suitable for kids! While the anthology is aimed at adults, we do have kid-friendly comics and the drawing games and whatnot will be fine for bairns.

There will be other opportunities to pick up this fine publication, but this will be THE BEST and THE CLOSEST TO THE SEA (AND FISH AND CHIPS ETC).
